ReYu Paralysis Recovery Centre is a non-profit, inclusive wellness centre that specializes in promoting functional recovery for individuals with spinal cord injuries and associated neurological disorders.  This is done through a comprehensive activity based training program, exercise knowledge and education. The program revolves around intense exercise based training to promote maximal recovery and rerouting of neural pathways to achieve increased function. Our mantra is: Reconnect. Retrain. Redefine. Reconnecting the brain to muscles below the level of injury. Retraining and rerouting neural pathways. Redefining what is possible. Here at ReYu there are no labels, limits or boxes. We define clients by what they can do and push the limits on possible! By combining the expertise of our Neuro Exercise Specialists, current evidence based practices and lived experience from our clients we help our clients reach their maximal recovery potential. 
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of activity based training, equipment and the field of neurorecovery

  • Perform evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques

  • Establish, implement and adapt individualized recovery programs

  • Properly document all client sessions for progress and review reports

  • Consistently assess client programs for optimal recovery

  • Promote a positive and professional environment

  • Ensure cleanliness of facility and training area is maintained

  • Use proper lifting techniques and safety protocols

  • Continue neurorecovery education through research, conferences and advanced training 


  • 4 year degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or health related field; Master’s degree a plus

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds and maintain a moderate workload for sustained periods of time

  • Professional demeanor with ability to work with diverse groups

  • Current Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR and First Aid Certifications

  • Current registration with the Alberta Kinesiology Association (RKin) in good standing

  • Security clearance (police information check) including vulnerable sector search 

  • Intervention Record Check for working with children

  • CSCS, CSEP, ACSM, or other personal training certifications preferred

  • Experience working with neurological injuries and conditions or paralysis a plus, but not required
